When
an apple is sliced open a star is revealed
on the inside. We firmly believe that there
is also a star within every child and we
work to help children’s star quality shine
brightly!
|

| We
reach out to underserved children in
the public school system in
our area. The students in
our after school program are
recommended by teachers, principals,

The Purple Apple
Creative Arts in Education Project
All
children deserve opportunities to create
without criticism, rules, or judgements, and to express their own
unique ideas and feelings. We provide
these opportunities for self expression
to underserved youth through offering
a free creative arts therapy program
specifically targeted at enhancing self
esteem.
Groups meet weekly with an average
of ten students per group, two sessions
per school year, 120 children are currently
participating.
Group leaders, who are
certified art therapists, evaluate the
needs and talents of their groups to
prepare projects specifically designed
to enhance self esteem and promote self
expression.
History
B. Kaylin Noblin
and Renee Conrad co-founded “The Purple
Apple” in 1989. They are both
certified art therapists who specialize
in researching children's self esteem and
self expression. Their research has led
to the creation of an art therapy curriculum
book, The Purple Apple; A Guide for Creative
Expression and Self Esteem, which is the
basis for our wonderful after school programs.

A safe place collage with the teacher and
director of the program.
